The Gods Must Be Funny In
Also Known As:
Gods Must Be Funny in China
Gods Must Be Crazy IV
Fei zhou chao ren - Mandarin
Fei jau chiu yan - Cantonese
This movie has been illegally marketed as The Gods Must be Crazy V. Yet when the
movie opens to the title page, there is a clear statement saying that this is The Gods Must be
Crazy 4. There must be something special about being the fourth of the series. Well, I
guess that nothing needs to be simple in the world of the Gods.
This is another strange movie.
For some reason, never made totally clear, N!xau is stranded in mainland China. It had something
to do with having attended the All-China conference in Swaziland.
Anyway, he is working to earn enough to get home by running around the city carrying a giant
Coke bottle. Meanwhile a racing team is in training for an upcoming race. They see how fast
N!xau runs and want him to join their team. After the usual slapstick he does.
The race is to be along the top of the Great Wall for hundreds of miles and then through the
The bad guy is trying to capture a Panda for himself.
From that you can pretty well judge the remainder of the plot. N!xau, the race team and the
pretty young Chinese girl that is the panda trainer have to fight off the bad guys, rescue
the panda, and of course win the race.
Combined with the plot, of course, is the usual slapstick comedy pratfalls. This is, in my
opinion, the weakest of all of the Gods Must be Crazy movies.

Cover Art, English Language VCD This movie was first put out
in VCD format. This is an earlier format than the current DVD and not as good, it can
be played on most DVD players, and on a PC (suggest X-VCD Player software - Free from
www.xequte.com). Now it has been converted to DVD format.
It appears, however, that the DVD was simply converted from the VCD. This is unfortunate
because the quality of the DVD would have been much better if it had been made from
the original. But perhaps the original is lost.
